Our Physical Education Department aims to provide a comprehensive and engaging curriculum that promotes physical fitness, skill development, teamwork, and a positive attitude towards exercise. Through a variety of sports and activities, we strive to help our students lead active and healthy lifestyles both within and beyond their time at Mount Lourdes. All students in Key Stage 3 and 4 receive one double period of PE each week (70mins).

Students engage in a wide range of sporting activities during their Physical Education lessons and in extra-curricular clubs.

Key Stage 3

Our PE curriculum aims to provide a wide range of activities that encourage students to develop their physical abilities, teamwork skills, and a positive attitude towards exercise. The double period allows for more in-depth engagement with each activity and enables students to explore various sports and physical activities over the course of the academic year. The Physical Education teachers strive to create a supportive and inclusive environment where every student can achieve their full potential.

The curriculum is designed to offer a balanced mix of individual and team sports, aiming to cater to the diverse interests and abilities of our students. Students participate in numerous activities including Athletics, Badminton, Dance, Fitness, Gaelic Football, Gymnastics, Netball, Rounders, Tennis and Volleyball.

Students enjoy participating in a range of Inter-Form Tournaments in Years 8-10.

Key Stage 4

In Key Stage 4 students continue to develop and refine their skills and foster a lifelong commitment to active and healthy lifestyles. Students build upon the foundation laid in Key Stage 3, with a focus on enhancing their knowledge and understanding of different sports, fitness concepts, and strategies.  Students develop their leadership skills by organising and leading warm-up sessions and small group activities. Our PE teachers emphasise the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle and making informed choices related to physical health and well-being. Students participate in numerous activities including Athletics, Badminton, Fitness, Gaelic Football, Netball, Rounders, Soccer, Spinning, Tennis and Volleyball.
